Cubs fans have suffered for too long.
Cubs GM, Jim Hendry, has done the right thing this season. He’s put the right pieces together and convinced the owners to invest the proper cash to bring in the talent needed to secure what every Cubs fans for 101 years wants, a damn Championship.
The pieces are there for the Cubs.
But Hendry did what he thought could help and brought in knucklehead Milton Bradley from Texas.
Henry was well intentioned in his decision to hire the bum. Milton has put the bat on the ball. The guy can hit. He can. He led the AL in OBS % last year. He is a consistent single hitter with 20-HR power. He can hit.
However, Milton is self- & team- destructive. The Cubs are his 8th team in 9 MLB seasons. Come on. Did Hendry REALLY think Milton was going to change?
Look at his knucklehead behavior:
1. Milton tossed a water bottle at a fan
2. He fought Dodger ex-teammate, Jeff Kent. (Cubs already have Carlos Zambrano who socked his ex-catcher, Michael Barrett)
3. Milton fought ex-managers in Cleveland
4. Milton couldn’t hold himself and spit gum at an umpire when upset
5. And last week, the bonehead pretty-posed to catch a 1-out fly ball and THEN threw it in the stands, believing it was Out 3.
He’s destructive.
Hendry paid him $30 million for THREE years. For that amount, Cubs could have secured Dodgers Matt Kemp, Angels’ Gary Matthews Jr., or Pirates Jason Bay in the off-season.
And he gets hurt. Hendry brought an injury-prone player to Chicago. It’s gets cold as Antarctica and hot as Hades in Chicago. And then, he’s gotta round the bases, throw the ball, and think…. He’s gonna get hurt…again. Milton only averages 120 games in the last several seasons. He’s a liability. He will get hurt in critical stretches of the season.
So, Hendry. Here’s a tip. Wait until 2 weeks after the All-Star break. If Kosuke maintains his rather consistent batting average in the 2nd half, trade Milton for a 7th -inning reliever. The outfield will be FINE without Bradley. Reed Johnson & Kosuke can take care of the day-to-day fielding in right. Micah Hoffpauir and Jake Fox can fill in for days off. Soriano is a stud.
If there’s anything that Cubs fans don’t need anymore of, it’s BAD LUCK!
Please Hendry. Don’t make us beg. You finally dumped Pryor and Wood for their personal Cubs curse. Now, dump Bradley. Be gone with the bad energy. It’s time!
