On a 0-2 slider, Toronto's closer B.J. Ryan served up what would be an astounding upperdeck homerun to Jason Giambi, and the New York Yankees plucked victory from the jaws of defeat. Lost in the excitment of a walk-off homer, are the other aspects of a inferior effort the Yankees have put forth on a daily basis. Chien Ming-Wang pitched ineffectively once again, Melky Cabrera made an inexcusable error, and Robinson Cano looked apathetic trying to lay down a bunt. These are all tell-tale signs of a fundamentaly flawed ball club that can not get out of its own way. Giambi's homerun provided a snapshot of the Yanks season so far, a talented and gifted bunch who have faltered to put together consistent play.
