After observing The Vikings-Packers game on Monday night I came to a very surprising conclusion.
No I knew that Rodgers would be a good quarterback. Look back on my previous blog on why I was glad that the Bears didn't get Favre.
Instead I realized that the Pack is still the team to beat on the NFC North but the arch rivals may be the next best contender for the crown.
Da Bears!!! Yep. A bit premature to say that after one game hunh? Not really. Last season the Bears beat the Packers twice though the Pack were a far superior team. The Bears have consistently beat the Packers since Lovie has been coach. I don't expect the Pack to get sweep by the Bears again this season, but I could see a split between the two teams.
The Vikings And Lions were 4-0 against the Bears last season. I doubt they both sweep the Bears this year. Again I can see the Bears splitting both series. Look Tavaris Jackson is a third running back playing quarterback. He's no good. The problem with the Vikes is that you have to contain that running attack and bring your lunch pail against that tough defensive line. With the Bears opportunistic defense they should be able to "pick" up a victory via the right arm of Tavaris. The Lions are the Lions. The sun shined on that dogs ass the one time it would for the decade last year. No need to comment on them.
That would give the Bears 3 victories in the division. That's a good goal. With a little luck they could go 4-2 in the division.
The next two upcoming Bear games are against the Panthers and the Buccaneers. The Bears could split these games too. Now is the best time to play the Panthers without that roadrunner known as Steve Smith at wide receiver.
The Bucs are good but not great. They are very beatable. The Bears play the NFC South this year and will get league decompsers Atlanta and St. Louis later in the season. They Bears have beat the Saints twice in two years and I see little reason they couldn't do it a third time in 3. The Bears have only one ot two teams that really worry me. That's the Eagles and the Jaguars. The Titans are good but they keep people in the game with that lack of an offense.
The Bears will lose their fair share of games this year there will be no doubt of that. I have reason to believe that they could easily have a 8 or 9 win season. Hell they won 7 last year and they were awful. I think 10-11 games may win the division this year so hey the Bears have a chance.
