Hasta La Bye Bye to Jeremy Shockey posted on 02/20/2008

The Giants won the Lombardi trophy without Jeremy Shockey. He probably still can't believe it. Now the word is out -- when the shlock-jock broke his leg against the Redskins, it was a good thing. The New York Giants finally became Eli Manning's team. 

Without constant yammering from that tattooed hoodlum in an NFL suit, the Giants' field leader went from Gomer Pyle to Gladiator. The babyfaced QB who used to defer to the league's poster boy for narcissism became a five-star general who electrified his troops. Funny how much better you play without a nasty splinter busting your butt. 

Player chemistry is worth more than ten Jeremy Shockeys. So was Shockey's replacement, rookie Kevin Boss, who stepped in and quickly erased any momentary concerns about the new kid on the block. Jeremy who?  In fact, according to a couple of Chicago radio sports guys, don't expect Shockey to be back to play for New York anytime soon. They're predicting that the blond bombshell will be gone -- traded before next season. In a radio interview before the championship, former Giants' back-up, QB Tim Hasselback, seemed to second that emotion, when he candidly summed up the team's feelings, declaring that the Giants were
