Tanier's FoxSports Quarterback Rankings A Joke!

Peyton Manning better than Tom Brady. Right! And the Bears are going to win the Super Bowl this year.  And Donovan McNabb third? Please! The substitute quarterbacks for McNabb the past two years should both be starting for the Eagles. McNabb may be very good, but 3rd best in the NFL?  Yeah....sure. But I digress.

Tanier's NFL quarterback rankings, which he says at one point are actually rankings of the depth of all of a team's quarterbacks, not just the starter, are hilarious. It's a really good thing he's not serious. He isn't is he?

Let's see, Brady has three Super Bowl rings and is leading his team to a fourth. Peyton Manning has...wait a minute....um....let's count all of them....ONE!! Okay, and Brady has been an NFL quarterback for 7 years while Manning has been around two years longer. So, let me see, who has the best record. Hmmmm...that's a tough one. But I'd guess Tom Brady?

But, according to Tanier, the "depth" of the Colt's quarterback squad somehow makes Manning the best in the NFL? If he's rating the depth of the teams, then why introduce his rankings with the following quote:

"We can definitely say who's tops among NFL signal callers. Hint, he does a lot of commercials." Kind of a contradiction isn't it Mr. Tanier? But I guess where I went wrong thinking a 3-time Super Bowl winner over a 4-year period was looking at records and statistics.

Mr. Tanier, and his brilliant staff(?) used the DVOA  and DPAR metrics along with their scouting and game charting data and "a healthy dollop of horse sense." That's a funny! I think he needed a much larger portion of horse sense so as not to produce rankings that are nothing but a big dollop of horse doo-doo!

And another one I can't pass up. After he says that his rankings are based on the quarterback depth of any particular team he states is his blurb on the Eagles, and I, again, quote:

"The Eagles have the best quarterback depth in the NFL."  Then why aren't they ranked #1 if that's what you're ranking.....oh, forget it!

I think Mr. Tanier and his team of experts should spend more time watching games and looking at wins, losses, and Super Bowl victories. That, after all, is what the NFL is all about. Well, anyway, last time I checked it was. Of course I didn't  have the DVOA and DPAR metrics....
