The Chicago White Sox are hanging around the AL Central, a few games under .500 and 3 or 4 games out of 1st place.
The only reason the Sox are in it is because the rest of the team in the Dvision are not that good. This is a must year for the Sox to make a push, because if they can't win it this year, well, there's no excuse. The Sox are an ineffficient team.
They bunch hits together, but leave runners in scoring position all the time. They may lead the league in leaving runners in scoring position but it's a stat not to write home about. This team can score more runs. They haven't been able to get that key hit that would make a decent inning a big one. In tonight's game, The Sox scored 4 runs on five hits--heck, you could score 7 runs on 5 hits. And, those three runs make a real difference. With two outs, and men in scoring position, the Chicago hitters are toast. They strike out, hit pop ups, hit into a force out. Hardly anyone drives the ball with authority. The one player doing that is Paul Konerko who is having a terrific season.
Adam Dunn did hit a single to drive in two runners, so that is a good sign. It is a big IF, but if he did find his stroke, and started plating runners, the Sox would up their offensive production. And, have a better shot at making this summer exciting.
