Sox Have Shot If They Play Well

The White Sox are 49-51 with 62 games left to play.  The've gone nine games over since early May.  Only in the weak AL Central, could the Sox have a shot to take the Divison and they do.  They beat Cleveland 4-2 on Sunday to move 2 1/2 games behind the Indians in 2nd place.  The White Sox host the first place Tigers in an important 3 game series starting this Monday.

The White Sox have talent.  They just haven"t fired on all cylinders yet.  And, the waiting is just about over.  It's time to make a move.  The Sox need to play their best now against Detroit to make the rest of games meaningful.

Juan Pierre is hitting over 350. in recent weeks.  Konerko has been driving in runs at a steady clip and Carlos Quinton has 20 HR"s.  Alex Rios and Adam Dunn are due to get hits...not to get hot.  Dunn is battling .167 for the year.  That is a surprise.  I don't expect him to start driving home runs, but just make contact with the ball.  Making he can hit the ball with runners in scoring position.  A couple of long drives to the outfield should wake him up.

One hopes Rios can snap out of it.  He is talented.  Maybe he is on the downside of his career.  He has speed, and is a good fielder.  He just hasn't found himself at the plate.  It's been frustrating.

The pitching has been decent.  Danks, Floyd, and Peavy are slated to go against the Tigers.  They need to step it up and show they are top starting pitchers.  The talent is there, the White Sox need to show it.  Now is the time.
