The Chicago Bulls finally got some great basketball luck and landed Derrick Rose with the number one pick. Rose, a local guy looks to be the real deal. He can pass, split defenders, is great in transition, and can post numbers when need be. But inorder for Rose to flourish, to blossom, he needs players to get the ball too.
That means Chicago must do everything it can to sign Deng, and Ben Gordon to contracts. The Celtics have Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. Chicago, needs it's own big three --not to make any comparisons, yet. Pierce really showed guts and determination in bringing a title back to Beantown. Hopefuly, one of the Bulls has that kind of character, when he is tested.
Deng, has a knack for scoring the ball, off the dribble with a mid-range jumper or off the boards. Gordon, has an uncanny ability to hit the big three, exactly when it's needed. His shot has bailed out many Bulls' possessions. He truly is an offensive threat.
Now, with the addition of Rose, Chicago has someone to get them the ball. The Bulls really need to make their #1 pick mean something and that means it must pick up, redo, or extend, the contracts of Deng and Gordon. They have earned a contract. They have both played hard.
Ok, they didn't re-sign last season. And, it definitely had some impact on the beginning of the season. This year, get them resolved so the team can start the season all on the same page. Then, the promise of last season may be this season's reality.
