Bears Lose To the Falcs, 21-14.

The Bears lost a tough game to the Atlanta Falcons, 21-14 Sunday night in Atlanta.

This game reminded me of the Jerry Senfeld comedy show.  Nothing happened.  The Bears scored in the 4th quarter to tie the game, only to see Atlanta move down the field at will, and score late with just over 3 minutes in the game.

I turned off the game as the Falcs moved into position to score the touchdown.  Not only did I think the Falcons were going to win the game, which they did. I did not think the Bears had it in them to rally.  Which they didn't.

A penalty incurred when the Bears were feet away from the end-zone, snuffed out a rally. Clearly,

the team doesn't know how to win on the road against the good team and a smart coach in Mike Smith, and quarterback in Matt Ryan.  The Bears got out of the running game and it became a shoot-out. Take the home QB.

Ryan wasn't brilliant but he managed his team very well.  They didn't shoot themselves in the foot, the Bears did.

The Bears lost the ball twice on turnovers in the red zone and had a penalty down at the 4 yard line.

I don't care if you have Joe Namath at quarterback, that team will lose the game.  The Bears aren't good enough to make those mistakes and overcome them.  Their defense isn't good enough.  Early in the game, they looked great.

Stopping the run, blitzing the passer.  The Falcons couldn't do anything.  One of the NBC announcers said, 'The Bears are playing great on D."  I thought, give them time.  Sure enough, in the 4th quarter, they couldn't stop Archie Manning, the father of the Manning brothers. This is a bad loss because it shows, the Bears are quick to rely on Cutler to bail them out.

He made a great throw to a Olsen in the 4th quarter to set up the tying score.  And, the Bears did tie up the game.  But what good is it, when once the Falcons got the ball, you knew the game was over. Sure enough, they marched down the field, and punched it in from the 2 yard line.  What kind of defense do the Bears have?  Not too good.

Lovie Smith is on the clock.  If this team doesn't improve by the end of the year, and they blow games like this one, he should be on the block.  Line up a coach.  Start looking.  This team needs to get energized and play smart and hard.

The Bears play hard.  They don't play that smart, and in the NFL, where the difference between winning and losing has become almost imperceptable, the Bears don't measure up.
