Bears Need To Switch Hester to Special Teams ASAP

Devin Hester is a player who is not a natural wide receiver.  He has learned this highly skilled position while having On The Job Training.   Gee, I wish I could do that and make millions.  What he is great at is playing on special teams.  He has returned a punt for a touchdown this season and needs to focus on what he is good at.  The Bears have young and talented wide receivers in Bennett and Johnny Knox. Give them a chance to mature and grow.  The way to do that is to let them make catches.  Olsen is a talented receiver.  He has become a number 2 guy on the depth chart.  Put him in situations that will help the team win a game.

Hester has been regarded as the primary receiver.  And, he is on the field a lot of the time. Running routes all over the place. He's being run into the ground.  Bears, make the change before he either gets decked or pulls a hammy.

He slipped last night while running a pattern, and Cutler threw to the spot, and SF intercepted the pass.  You can't really blame that one on Cutler. But you have a odd-fit situation with Hester where he is featured on an offense, when he is not really a bona fide wide receiver.  Ok he was fast. Before the Bears burned him out.  Now, if you want to get your money's worth, make the switch now before he is a physical mess.  The Bears are not making the playoffs this year and barring any great changes, may not be that competitive next season either.

It is time to retool this team. This demands critical thinking by management and coaches.  Now, on the field, the Bears look pretty sorry.  If things don't shape up on the top, the team will start losing its fan base.  Who wants to spend top dollar, sit out in cold weather and see your team get beaten?  Unfortunately, that is an all too familiar scenario.
