Bears Get Mauled By Minny, 36-10

It isn't a pretty picture.  You want to turn off the TV when the Bears go 3 and out in the first set of downs.   It is frustrating to see a team so over-matched, about to get demolished.  That is what happened last Sunday.  Last year, about this time of the season,  Brett Favre had his last good game as Jet, and then imploded as the season got away from him and the Jets.

Favre thought he needed a really good team to play with and got his wish.  The Vikings are that good team, and Favre is playing like the Comback Player of the Year.  He threw for almost 400 yards and 3 touchdowns at the age of 40, and made the Bears secondary look like a bunch of amateurs.

Over on the Bears side, Jay Cutler is becoming difficult to watch.  It's like seeing a train wreck, you are full of fear and amazement, and awe.  How did this young talented QB with so much promise, become the inept, scared QB who has thrown a career high 20 picks this year.  He has managed to throw 15 in the last 7 games.  That's not easy.  The other guys have to catch 'em.

The Bears are 4-7 and their season is for all intents over.  The problems with the Bears stem from top to bottom, above coaching to the assistant to the defensive coach.  There is no coach on defense. Lovie Smith took that over, and the Bears have become Matador D.  You can throw on them, run on them, and count on them for some well-timed personal foul 15 yard penalties.  That's what the defense has become.  Where is Brian Urlacher?  Won't see him until next season.

I bet if you got Steve McMichael, Jim McMahon, Otis Wilson, and Dick Butkus to hold a seminar on how to win a game, it would help.  These are players who knew how to win. Who played to win. Did the hard work to make sure they got the job done. I don't see that being done by the players on this team.  Something has to rub off.

It's another loss.  There will be more.  And, finally, when the season is over. Changes will be made, They have to be made.
