The Chicago Bears beat the Buffalo Bills, 22-19, and thus averted what would have been a calamnity, having lost to the worst team in the NFL. The Bears now are a respectable 5-3 for the year. However, the competition like the winds will get stiff, and as the rest of schedule presents itself, we will have answers to a lot of questions.
Even in winning, the Bears don't do anything easily. The NY Giants, who the Bears got blitzed by, took a 41-0 lead on Seattle. They flattened that team, that snuck out of Soldier Field with a win. The Bears gave the Seahawks a win. If the Bears had some of the fire of the '85 team, this team would be fun to watch. Right now, it is like seeing a car crash. You're curious, but you don't want to look.
The thing is Jay Cutler managed the offense today. He didn't lose the game for the Bears. Right now, I don't have a lot of confidence he can win a game, but that is a different story.
Next week, the Bears will have a chance against a team going through internal stife. It took the late heroics of Brett Favre, a future Hall of Fame QB, to pull the game out for the Vikings. If it gets that close again, Favre will do it to the Bears. Maybe the Bears need another bye week before they play the Vikes.
They need some kind of break.
