The Chicago Bears beat the Vikings at home, 27-13. yesterday and moved to 6-3 for the year. Perhaps the Bears aren't dead yet. They played like they had something larger at stake, not just moving up in the NFC North, which they did and now are tied with Green Bay, but to prove to themselves that this team could meet a challenge and prevail.
The Bears had a lot to prove going into this game. Could they effectively utilize the run and pass in the offense?
Chicago rushed for 130 yards and Jay Cutler threw for 237 yards with 3 TD strikes. Devin Hester ran back 2 punt returns for long yardage and the defense produced 4 turnovers. All in all, it was a good day for the Bears. This was a quality win. Brian Urlacher played 5 years younger and was all over the field, making big plays, and Lance Briggs had a solid game and came up with interception. Chicago wore throwback jerseys to the '40, and played tough.
They were meeting a team in turmoil in the Vikings, and had a good chance to play well. The Vikings underperformed, luckily for Chicago. The Bears needed that game and they got it. Another couple of wins and we will be talking wild card.
