The Chicago Bulls finally got some great basketball luck and landed Derrick Rose with the number one pick. Rose, a local guy looks to be the real deal. He can pass, split defenders, is great in transition, and can post numbers when need be. But inorder for Rose to flourish, to blossom, he needs players to get the ball too.

That means Chicago must do everything it can to sign Deng, and Ben Gordon to contracts. The Celtics have Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. Chicago, needs it's own big three --not to make any comparisons, yet. Pierce really showed guts and determination in bringing a title back to Beantown. Hopefuly, one of the Bulls has that kind of character, when he is tested.

Deng, has a knack for scoring the ball, off the dribble with a mid-range jumper or off the boards. Gordon, has an uncanny ability to hit the big three, exactly when it's needed. His shot has bailed out many Bulls' possessions.  He truly is an offensive threat.

There is a very thin line about being a closer. One pitch can make the difference. One play can get you out of a jam. One moment, when you are on the mound and the game is in the balance. That's why they get paid the very big bucks they do.

Mo Rivera loaded the bases and the BoSox threatened to steal a close game with their arch-rival, the NY Yankees. Trailing 2-1, The Red Sox had the bases loaded with no outs but Rivera got the 3 outs without allowing Boston to score another run and the Yankees won a squeaker 2-1. The Cubs were on top 4-2 thanks to an Aramis Ramirez 2 run-blast and seemed ready to put a dent in the St. Louis Cardinals' charge for the NL Central lead. Kerry Wood, the Chicago Cubs' closer came in in the bottom of the 9th, promptly walked the first 2 batters, gave up an RBI double, loaded the bases, got 2 big outs, and then couldn't put Rick Ankiel away.  Ankiel hit a drive which tallied two runs, and like that, the Cubs gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th and lost the game.

Yes, it is a fantasy but we can all dream a little can't we?  Brett Favre is getting that urge to suit up and play football.  Why? Because he has something to prove. Because he feels better than last January.  Because he is a football player and it is training camp time and time to get ready to play.  His football clock is ticking...let's see if the alarm goes off and if the Packers drop him. If so, He's gonna land somewhere with some team. A team that needs a proven player. A Hall of Famer. One of the best modern QB's of all time. Up there with the legends.

Can a Bears' fan let by-gones be by-gones?  After about 30 seconds, you betcha!  Having him play for Chicago would insure that the Bears will be a contender for the Division and will likely win at least 9 games. !0 would get you into the playoffs. What about the rivalry between the Bears and the Packers...how can he wear the colors of the Bears?  If they find a way to pay him, he will play.  Heck he has beaten the Bears through the years, let him suit up and beat up on Green Bay!  This the the 21st century. It's goodbye sweeheart and "hello baby."

The Chicago Bears did the right thing and resigned Devin Hester to a a guaranteed $15 million contract.  It is a lot of money, but believe me, he's worth it. Now, Devin, don't get hurt....

Hester is a real threat to score every time he touches the ball. He's a game-breaker. And, He is the most electric kick-returner since Gayle Sayers returned them for the Bears, way back when.  Bears' management knows this. They probably looked at the films, and said, "Geez, the fans would kill us if we don't resign him."  Good move.

Now, if the stars and ocean waters of the seven seas align right, maybe the Bears could pull off a heist and sign Brett Favre. He's out there. He didn't show up for practice today. Which means, he means business. I'd like to see George Halas try to negotiate with a Johnny Unitas or a Bart Starr for a two year deal. Which is all about you could expect from Favre. He may have one great year left. And, one NFL team will get lucky and land him. Don't want Tampa Bay to get him. He's in the division, the Bucs would be favored to win it. If he goes to NY, the Jets' fans will swoon and call him the second coming of Joe Namath.  He would be the toast of the town. Would steal the show from the defending Super Bowl Champs, the Giants.  Jets fans would wear Favre's jersey as quick as a winning lotto ticket.  Everyone would make money off of that coup.  It would be Favre, Favre, and more Favre in NY.
