You know the expression, "it's not easy being green."  Well, a variation of that would apply to Bears' fans. "It's not easy being a Bears' fan."  The Bears avoided a humiliating loss when they rallied for two touchdowns and squeaked by in the 4th quarter to win 27-23.  Actually, Rex Grossman, who filled in for the injured Kyle Orton, did the squeaking, for a yard to score the winning TD with under 6:00 to play.

Then the defense barely held on to repel a last-ditch threat when a Bears' defender broke up a pass to Calvin Johnson for a potential winning TD.  There is always good news and bad news with the Bears. The good news is the team won. The Bad news is Detroit (0-8) nearly won the game. And, the starting QB Orton injured his ankle and is out for at least a month.

The Chicago Bears certainly played tough defensively against the Tennessee Titans. They held the AFC powerhouse to just 20 yards rushing for the entire game, and an impressive -5 yards rushing for the first half.  The Titans, however, found another way to win, and can thank Kerry Collins, their quarterback, for having a fine game.

Collins threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns and that seemed to be just enough to hold off the stubborn Bears in the 4th quarter.  The Bears put up a pretty good fight but came up short against one of the top teams in the NFL.

Rex Grossman, who has been in some big games in his career, couldn't quit get anything going as he was 20-37 for 173 yards.  He threw a pick and the Titans could have had at least one more, but the Titans' dropped the ball.

The Bears were due for a bad game. They were achin' to reach .500, a milestone for middleness. Not that good or not that bad. At any rate, ten games into the season, the Bears are simply mediocre. Green Bay at 5-5 is also .500, but they played like a 7-3 team. And, the Pack put the Bears in their place.

The final score of the game was 37-3 and that should tell enough. The Bears couldn't run the ball, pass the ball, or stop the run.  It seemed like the game against the Titans was a mirage. Holding an undefeated team to just 20 yards rushing. It seemed like the Bears read the press clippings about that game, which was a loss, by the way, and said, "Well, we'll stop Green Bay, who can't run the ball anyways."  Green Bay, with Ryan Grant running over the Bears for 145 yards, steamrolled the Bears defense.  If the Bears finish below .500 for the season, look at this game.  The Bears faced a real team, pumped to face its arch-rival on its home turf, and the game wasn't even close.

Who are these Chicago Bears? The team that got stuffed like a turkey in Green Bay or the team that took control early and coasted to a relatively easy win over hapless St. Louis yesterday?  The Bears are 6-5 and tied with Minnesota and will meet each other next Sunday night in Minneapolis.

Some unanswered questions will finally get some answers. The Bears seem to play well against the meek of the NFL, and not well against the prime-time of the NFL.  Well, next week the Bears will playing in prime-time on NBC's Sunday Night Football game.  That's when we will find out if these Bears will have a meaningful game in December.

The Bears Matt Forte gained over 130 yards against the Rams and the rookie scored two touchdowns. Kyle Orton is finding his legs back as starter and managed the game. The defense netted five sacks and four interceptions. That is a lot of stops and takeways. The score against the Rams should have been higher. But, you can't quibble when you hold a team to three points for the game.
