Brad Johnson

g traded to Tampa, but never took a snap as a Buccaneer and retired before the start of the season. Brad Johnson and Shaun King are faces of the past, and the future doesn't look very bright either. There should be plenty of free agent qb's this year and many may fit well in Tampa.

was supposed to be an offense-orientated leader.  However, now with three years of hindsight, Brad Johnson throwing to Koren Robinson and handing off to Chester Taylor (the last year of the Tice regime) was just as productive as Tarvaris Jackson throwing to Bernard Berrian and giving to Adrian Peterson.  Essentially, what I'm trying to say is that Childress has come nowhere near delivering the "kick-ass" offense he promised a few seasons ago.  Sure, the defense has been incredible, but Chilly lucked out in that regard (and was likely helped by the presence of Mike Tomlin, now Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers), as the Wilfs had just doled out the money to Pat Williams, Antoine Winfield, and Darren Sharper, while Kevin Williams was becoming a major inside force.

The third area is an early quarterback move from youngster to veteran.  In '98, a young Brad Johnson (yes, at one point, that was possible) injured his leg and was replaced by Randall Cunningham, who was incredible with all the weapons surrounding him...

be a die-hard fan to know that the biggest reason for the Cowboys’ recent struggles has been Brad Johnson. As bad as the offensive line and defensive secondary have played at times, the fact that the former Super Bowl quarterback hasn’t looked like he could throw a stone in the ocean this season has to be Wade Phillips’ worst oversight since coming to Dallas two years ago.

The new crystal ball is on a roll.  Last weeks debut at 3-1, was followed with perfection…4-0 this week!  That brings our prognosticating record to .500 for the season.  We had a slow start to the season, but now we are on a mission.  I am not one to gloat (yes I am!)…so let’s see what happened:

past few weeks, everyone has been toting the company line, saying the right things, rallying behind Brad Johnson.  Yeah, yeah, yeah…we all know that the Cowboys were just hoping to stumble into the bye week with their heads above water.  You know what?  They did, as they limp in at 5-4, with a chance to right the ship.

Cowboys needed this win badly as all the other NFC East teams got the W in Week 8. Brad Johnson looked anything, but sharp...BUT...Dallas musters out a win and will face rivals Eli Manning and the New York Giants next week. Should be a...interesting one.

Fix-it (read more here)?  It wasn’t pretty…ugly…you might say!  Brad Johnson was awful…but they got the job done (read more here).  Next weeks showdown with the G-Men is huge…we shall see!

In the end, the Cowboys won despite the play of a Brad Johnson led offense.  It wasn’t very pretty offensively…downright ugly even!  The Cowboys managed a measly 172 yards of offense…are you kidding me?  With all that talent on offense…all those Pro-Bowlers…pathetic!  But Wade and company did what they needed to do…win the ball game, period!  It doesn’t matter how you win.  It doesn’t matter if it wasn’t pretty.  It doesn’t matter if it was ugly…because…there are no style points in the NFL!

has tumbled the past couple weeks with its injuries and an embarrassing loss to the Rams last week. Brad Johnson didn't look good against St.Louis as he made his first start in quite some time. He'll get the start again as Romo is not expected to return until mid-November. Dallas will face a good Tampa Bay team. Some could say Tampa could be favored in this game after everything Dallas has been through the last couple of weeks. Tampa does have the better record. Their coming off a drumming of the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football last week. I looked into my crystal ball and I saw the score and I saw the future. "Pleasant" is not a word that describes Cowboy fans' mood next week. My crystal ball is back. My crystal ball picks Tampa Bay!

It means back-up Brad Johnson, “fresh” off of his 2002 win in the Super Bowl, is now forty years old. He is being asked to fill in for one of the most elusive quarterbacks in the league in Romo, who has been under pressure behind a struggling offensive line. Johnson can’t possibly stay upright, as he won’t take more than 3 steps away from the pocket. Luckily during the month Romo is suspected to be sidelined, the Cowboys have their bye week, so Johnson may only need to start three games for Dallas.  2-1 would the ideal record during that time, but 1-2 may not hurt them too bad. Unfortunately, Romo wasn’t the only injury. Another casualty was punter Matt McBriar, who has been one of the better punters in the NFL, expected to miss at least six to eight weeks. Felix Jones rounds out the last injury report with a hamstring strain that could have him out for a month at most.

NFL Notes:

-How about "Old Man" Brad Johnson starting for the Dallas Cowboys in the wake of Tony Romo's pinky finger injury?!
