Boy, the Chicago Bears sure surprised me last Sunday. In defeating the Cowboys 27-20, on Sunday, the Bears served notice that they may be a team to take seriously after all. The Bears are 2-0 for the first time since they went to the Super Bowl vs. Indinanapolis. The Bears line played well and gave QB Jay Cutler enough time for him to make terrific passes to receivers who gobbled them in for over 275 yards and 3 touchdowns. Dveni Hester caught a pass in the corner of the end zone, in an all-pro type grab for a touchdown. Matt Forte and Greg Olsen also scored.

When the Chicago Bears are losing 31-0 at half-time, that is an indication that something is wrong with the team.
When Matt Forte, can only gain 24 yards, that is also an indication that something is wrong with this team. And, when QB Jay Cutler throws 3 interceptions, that is not good as well. Meanwhile, Kyle Orton looks like John Elway and as of now, Denver is undefeated. You prepare for a week on this team, you know that Cedric Benson is going to run like he has daggers in his eyes. Carson Palmer of the Bengals threw 5 TD passes against a team that has spent a lot of time and effort on improving the pass rush. Pack in the season, the Bears look like they need a hibernation. I used to have season tickets to the Bears. Saw many games. I am glad I don't have them now. Actually, the Bears were losing 45-3 but the Bears scored a late TD. Quite simply, this was a slaughter.

You know the expression, "it's not easy being green." Well, a variation of that would apply to Bears' fans. "It's not easy being a Bears' fan." The Bears avoided a humiliating loss when they rallied for two touchdowns and squeaked by in the 4th quarter to win 27-23. Actually, Rex Grossman, who filled in for the injured Kyle Orton, did the squeaking, for a yard to score the winning TD with under 6:00 to play.

Yesterday, the Eagles lost another heartbreaker to a division foe, the Washington Redskins, 23-17. The Eagles stand at 2-3 and in 4th (last) place in their division. They have now lost two division (3 conference) games…and that does not bode well for play-off considerations. Though it’s still early in the season…the sky may be falling!

Cub fans, please say thank you to any Milwaukee Brewers fans you may know. Their team is struggling just as much as the Cubs right now. It could have been disastrous if Milwaukee would have gone on a winning streak this week as the Cubs were skidding against the Phillies and Astros. The Cubs still have a cushion in the NL Central, but they need to try to get Zambrano and Harden healthy before they make this final playoff push. Don't panic, the Cubs will be fine. They have a solid line-up all the way through the batting order, and even if they are sluggish, they will get enough wins to enter the 08 playoffs. Sorry this post is short and I haven't posted in a while, but I have been working on numerous websites. I will try to put the Cubs blog first from now on, and trust me, I will be much more talkative once these Cubbies get closer to the playoffs.
