Rashard Mendenhall

instead of sticking to the running game, with only 23 rushing attempts for the team and only 14 for Rashard Mendenhall.

The Steelers tried to respond early in the second quarter, but they end up stalling near the endzone, forcing them to settle for a field goal. Showing his inaccurate tendencies, Roethlisberger was off target early, missing key throws to Mike Wallace and Heath Miller, often over-throwing his receivers and heaving ill-advised passes into double coverage (like his two interceptions). Pittsburgh’s offense couldn’t produce a touchdown until right before the first half ended when they were already down 21-3. The Steelers aren’t designed to come back from multiple scores, so from there it was going to be an uphill battle. A

Instead, the Steelers should slow the game down and feed Rashard Mendenhall the ball as much as possible. If he gets over 25 carries the Steelers will win, but a large portion of those must go to the outside as to avoid B.J. Raji. Dough Legursky will not be able to handle him at all. In the passing game, hit Ward, Wallace and Sanders on short slants and curls, giving them a chance to break tackles and get down the field. Every other throw should go toward Miller, who is a match-up problem for any of the Packer linebackers or safeties. How the Steelers should defend the Packer offense:

;t think it’s a coincidence that Troy Polamalu and the Steeler running game returned as well. Rashard Mendenhall has taken over for Willie Parker and is running away (pun SO intended) with the opportunity. Now Big Ben Roethlisberger isn't as pressured in the pocket.Denver’s defense will be hoping to rebound after being embarrassed by Baltimore last week, but the offense will have to put up points if they have any hope of stymieing the Steelers.

There is talk (and the NFL is currently looking into it) that the Ravens had a bounty out on Rashard Mendenhall and Hines Ward of the Steelers.  What’s wrong with that?  Doesn’t anybody remember the Bounty Bowls?

The crystal ball was two up and two down for the week.  Even though that is an improvement, it still doesn’t cut it!  Good thing this is for entertainment purposes only…or I would be in the poor house!  Let’s take a look back and see what happened:

Bill Belichick, Head Coach of the New England Patriots, was accused by Al Davis of “tampering” with Randy Moss prior to their trade a year ago.  The Raiders received a 4th round pick as compensation in the deal.  Davis alleges that the Patriots had a secret workout with Moss prior to the negotiations, which would violate NFL rules.  Bill (here’s a surprise) denies the accusation.

The other day, Rashard Mendenhall (Rookie RB for the Pittsburgh Steelers) sent his buddy, Ray Rice (Rookie RB for the Baltimore Ravens) a text message.  So why is that football news?  Because LB Bart Scott of the Ravens made it so!  Mendenhall’s text was only intended for his buddy Ray.  It claimed how great of a day Rashard was going to have against the vaunted Raven’s Defense.  Ray Rice took it upon himself to let his defense know about the text message…Bart Scoot took offense.

/>•    If you’ve been reading any mock drafts lately, you’ll notice Rashard Mendenhall as a trendy choice for the Bears’ first round pick. Given the current state of our atrocious backfield, and coupled with the fact that we have done nothing to amend the situation via free agency, I think Mendenhall would be a great option at #14. At 5’10”, 225, he’s very similar in size to 5’11”, 220 Benson, but Mendenhall has shown impressive speed and burst (remember that 79-yard run he had in the Rose Bowl against that great Trojan D?), clocking a 4.41 40 and recording twenty-six reps in the 225-pound bench press. I bet Benson couldn’t even do twenty! He’s also incredibly versatile – thirty-four receptions for 318 yards last year, second on the Illini – and would open up the offense even more. The livelihood of The Grossman/Orton Duo will be entirely dependent upon whether or not they can work those outlets and dump offs for short gain; Mendenhall could provide immediate impact in this area. Do yourself a favor and check out this video ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=27cxAs7mGSs) of him against Wisconsin where he racked up 160 yards and two TDs on nineteen carries. Also, as with Lloyd, Turner was the one who recruited Mendenhall and would absolutely love to have him. And the rest: Standing 5’10”, 210, Peterson would most likely be relegated to specific situations (two-minute drills, passing downs). He’s still a very necessary part of our special teams, though, and will continue to provide in that capacity. Wolfe (5’7”, 186) will take some time to establish himself, but, rest assured, I’ve seen this guy play firsthand and know he’s a beast. Just give him some time.
