The Chicago Bears are 0-3 this pre-season.  Not that a record in pre-season means the regular season, but since they have not played well in the pre-season, one can make some assumptions:  The Bears will likely have a sub.500 season.

The preseason is finally over! With the final game in the books (a 13-10 loss to the Browns, if you even care), the Bears have decisions to make before Saturday's 5:00 PM deadline to cut the roster to 53 players. Here's what I saw during this fairly lackluster contest.

If you actually like watching scrubs fight for jobs (purest form of competition if you ask me), be sure to tune in tonight and cheer for players you'll never see again! Here's what else to watch for tonight before the roster cuts on Saturday:

Well, if this third preseason game was any indication of how the regular season will look, Bears fans are in for a bumpy ride. The Bears' offensive woes continued against the Cardinals as the first-team unit failed to score any points. Here are my notes from Saturday night's 14-9 loss to the Cardinals.

Tonight the Chicago Bears take on the Arizona Cardinals in what will really be their final tune-up before their regular season opens up on September 12th. The third preseason game is always the outing in which you can place the most weight on how the team will perform in later weeks, as the starters will play into the third quarter and the coaches usually attempt to make a gameplan. Here's what I'll be watching for later tonight after I get back from being social and rev up my DVR.

If you only managed to catch the first quarter or so of Saturday night's preseason game, you saw some pretty fugly football from Lovie Smith's Bears.  The offense was mediocre, the defense was bad and the special teams were awful. It's still a preseason game and therefore meaningless, but here's what I took from the Bears' 32-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

The Chicago Bears are about to come out of hibernation and start pre-season practice.  In recent years, the opening of camp has almost as much anticipation as the first game of the year.  This year, the expectations may be heightened more when Mike Martz, the offensive "gurui" takes over the Bears play book.  He will be in charge in getting the most out of Jay Cutler, the QB who wilted for much of the season, then showed how good he was in the Bears' last two games.

I have a lot of expectations for this year’s rookie class. First round pick Devin McCourty will get a lot of run, maybe as high as the third corner. The two tight ends will contribute almost immediately. Brandon Spikes will become a two-down run-stuffing ILB. Zoltan Mesko will win the punting job.

In what seems to be a never-ending off-season for the Chicago Bears, Jerry Angelo brought a familiar face back to the Bears' secondary and gutted the Panther defense for another starter by trading for veteran strong safety Chris Harris. Harris was the odd man out three years ago in a crowded Chicago secondary and was dealt to the Carolina Panthers for a fifth round pick. Harris broke the news on his twitter account, saying goodbye to Carolina but later back-pedaled when he learned the trade wasn't "official" yet. It has since been finalized by the NFL. The Deal Chicago sent 5th year linebacker Jamar Williams to Carolina for sixth year safety Chris Harris, with whom the Bears immediately re-worked his existing contract.

The Redskins signed Former Bear and Texan Rex Grossman to a one-year deal.

It is believed that ole Rex was signed to replace the aging Todd Collins as the #2 behind JC.  Although.....He did play for Kyle Shanahan (New Redskins Offensive Coordinator) and Matt Lafleur (New Redskins Quarterbacks Coach) in Houston last year.  I believed that he was only signed to help instill the offense Kyle runs, or maybe to mentor some young rookie QB.  The latest that I heard however, was that he is going to be challenging Campbell for the starter position. Let me display my feelings on this notion.

Shopping for free agents in the NFL is not much different from shopping for groceries at the grocery store.  You must make your grocery list based on what you need, while keeping an eye out for great deals.  You want to avoid overpaying for something that you either don’t need or won’t be satisfied with.  You need to keep you eye out for dropping prices.  It is also essential that you stay away from flawed products that have disappointed in the past.  These are all keys to being a smart shopper in the NFL free agent market.

With NFL free agency kicking off at midnight on Thursday, the Chicago Bears need to make a huge splash. Completing the circle of "Lovie's guys," Bears defensive line coach Rod Marinelli was promoted to assistant head coach and defensive coordinator on Friday.      Back-to-back Saints’ losses has Big Daddy incensed. Even though the Saints clinched home field advantage for the first time in franchise history. The Saints reached this unprecedented milestone thanks to their recent nemesis, the Chicago Bears, who knocked off Minnesota in 2009’s final Monday Night Football game. The improbable overtime victory allowed the Black ’n’ Gold to back into the NFC’s No. 1 seed. The Chicago Bears defeated the Detroit Lions 37-23 last Sunday to finish up at 7-9.  The win most likely saves head coach Lovie Smith's job.  QB Jay Cutler threw for four TD's looking like the QB fans thought he would be.  Devin Aramashado scored twice on passes.  He should be a featured wide receiver, not Devin Hester.  Hester is a valuable player and should be retured to his best position, running back kickoffs and punts.

With both teams out of the playoffs and nursing plenty of injuries, today's NFC North meeting between the Bears and Lions won't be aesthetically pleasing. Regardless, I'll tell you what to watch for at Ford Field. Get your Gameday Preview on! (6-9) Chicago Bears at(2-13) Detroit Lions The Lions won't have first overall pick Matthew Stafford on the field after his recent knee surgery, so Daunte Culpepper will start under center. He's nowhere near the talent he used to be, but he will be fired up and looking to impress the other 31 teams in the league. Without a consistent running game though, he'll have a hard time fooling the Bears' defense. (I hope anyway.) Marred by injuries (Charles Tillman and Israel Idonije out, Danieal Manning doubtful), Lovie Smith's defense will need to fill their gaps and avoid giving up big plays. If they can, it shouldn't be difficult keeping the lowly Lions under 17 points. Calvin Johnson will get 100 yards in receiving today. Take that to the bank. That should be more than low enough. Jay Cutler and the offense should have no trouble tearing apart the second-worst defense (worst pass defense) in the NFL. Matt Forte should get a ton of carries and a rare 100-yard game to end the regular season. Johnny Knox is doubtful with his ankle injury from last week, but Devin Hester will return to the field in his absence. Devin Aromashodu is going to see plenty of balls his way in the season finale. Odds: Chicago is favored by 3.5 on the road.  Prediction: The Bears

Why is it that recent late-season meetings between the Bears and Packers hold little to no significance? Oh wait, I remember now. Because one of these teams decides to be out of it by week ten. This year its the Bears' turn. Each squad has gone through their own specific roller-coaster rides, but while the Bears have been on the The Whizzer and are in the midst of projectile vomiting, the Green Bay Packers have ridden Batman: The Ride six times and are ready for more. The Chicago Bears got back to the Victory Column with a queasy win over the futile St. Louis Rams, 17-9 last Sunday.

They didn't do it easy either.  One would think this would be a sleep-walk win.  Not with this team.  The Bears won, because St. Louis was that bad.  The Bears got touchdowns from Earl Bennett and Matt Forte, backed by a careful Jay Cutler, to earn the win.  The defense played better, holding the Rams to 3 field goals.  However, this is the Rams, and not the Vikings the Bears defeated.  Chicago (5-7) is a mediocre at best team this season.  The holes are finally showing.

Well, it wasn't a barrage of Jay Cutler interceptions that led to Chicago's loss to Philadelphia at Soldier Field Sunday night. Instead of tossing red zone picks, Cutler played smart and checked down to his receivers, setting up four Robbie Gould field goals. Thing about field goals is, a touchdown's better than two of them. That simple math led to the demise of Lovie Smith's team and the deflation of their playoff hopes as they fall to 4-6.

We see how the tides of the NFL sweep.  The NY Giants, losers of 4 straight, win a big game vs. Atlanta, who fought hard to the end. After the game, Giants' coach Tom Coughlin said, "It's good to win a game."  While the New York Jets at 4-5, faced a virtually must win game against New England, in Foxboro, MA.  Getting a win there would be quite difficult. It didn't happen as New England took control as the Jets committed 5 turnovers.  Giving New England the ball 5 times isn't going to lead to a winning formula.  The Jets was fallen into the Meadowlands quagmire.  After a fast start at 3-0, the Jets have lost 6 games and won 1.  That's not winning football and the Jets fans are none too happy about it.  But you have a rookie QB in Mark Sanchez and while he is smart and has talent, he faces some of the top defensive coaches and teams in the league, especially the Patriots, who took the team apart.  A radio analyst on the Jets network said of the game, "This is what happens when you don't execute."

Devin Hester is a player who is not a natural wide receiver.  He has learned this highly skilled position while having On The Job Training.   Gee, I wish I could do that and make millions.  What he is great at is playing on special teams.  He has returned a punt for a touchdown this season and needs to focus on what he is good at.  The Bears have young and talented wide receivers in Bennett and Johnny Knox. Give them a chance to mature and grow.  The way to do that is to let them make catches.  Olsen is a talented receiver.  He has become a number 2 guy on the depth chart.  Put him in situations that will help the team win a game.

The Chicago Bears had an easy opponent in the Cleveland Browns, and finished them off 30-6 at Soldier Field on Sunday.

Jay Cutler said that the Bears offense needed to get going after the game. He said the team needed to make "big plays" in their mix.  That is true.  You can't depend upon a personal foul to get you close to the goal line. The Bears were the beneficiaries of such a penalty and Matt Forte punched it from the one yard line. Forte had 90 yards for the game. Which says, he is a pretty good runner against bad teams. Now, if you put him up against the Ravens, he might get stuffed.

In the 2009 NFL, there are more teams at the bottom of the scrap heap than I can ever remember. When the Chicago Bears are losing 31-0 at half-time, that is an indication that something is wrong with the team.

When Matt Forte, can only gain 24 yards, that is also an indication that something is wrong with this team.  And, when QB Jay Cutler throws 3 interceptions, that is not good as well.  Meanwhile, Kyle Orton looks like John Elway and as of now, Denver is undefeated.  You prepare for a week on this team, you know that Cedric Benson is going to run like he has daggers in his eyes.  Carson Palmer of the Bengals threw 5 TD passes against a team that has spent a lot of time and effort on improving the pass rush.  Pack in the season, the Bears look like they need a hibernation.  I used to have season tickets to the Bears.  Saw many games.  I am glad I don't have them now.  Actually, the Bears were losing 45-3 but the Bears scored a late TD. The Bears lost a tough game to the Atlanta Falcons, 21-14 Sunday night in Atlanta.

This game reminded me of the Jerry Senfeld comedy show.  Nothing happened.  The Bears scored in the 4th quarter to tie the game, only to see Atlanta move down the field at will, and score late with just over 3 minutes in the game.

After a well-needed bye week, the Chicago Bears are back in action tonight, heading to the Georgia Dome to take on Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. Coming off a 45-10 beatdown of the San Francisco 49ers, the Falcons could not be flying higher. After a heart-breaking loss in Atlanta last season, the Bears are ready for some payback.

Accept no substitute! Support the real New England Patriots!

The media really likes the Denver Broncos, or in some circles, Patriots West. Praised is heaped upon Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels like he’s the second coming of Bill Belichick, down to the gray hoodie.

It was unimpressive statistically, but Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears dominated the Detroit Lions in the second half en route to a 48-24 win on Sunday.

Even though Detroit’s offense ran 76 plays compared to Chicago’s 50 and racked up nearly 400 yards, it wasn’t enough to overcome losing the field position battle. All of the Lions’ 13 drives started from within their own 30-yard line. Out of the Bears 13 drives, only three started behind the 30. With that kind of field position, Jay Cutler didn’t have to throw for 300 yards to get the victory.

One thing is for sure going into this Sunday’s match-up at Solider Field: these aren’t the 2008 Lions. Know how I know that? The 2009 Lions have won a game. It happened just last weekend against the Redskins. Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz is hoping to turn it into a streak, with the Chicago Bears playing their second victim.

The Chicago Bears don't know how to win the easy way.  Apparently, that is not in their DNA, or at least until Buddy Ryan led the "46" defense.  However, this season they have Jay Cutler who threw a late TD pass to converted receiver Devin Hester for 36 yards and the winning touchdown.  And, the Bears defense held off Seneca Wallace and the Seahawks to win and go 2-1 for the young season.

It was tougher than it should have been, but the Chicago Bears left Seattle with a 25-19 victory over the Seahawks. Despite a Jay Cutler interception and fumble, the Bears found a way to win. After three heart attacks and defibrillator attention, I found a way to write this story.

Jay Cutler may get to watch more football than play.  The ground game better be working. Because this game should be played in December. But, as the scheduler has it, its the 2nd game of the season. And the Bears need this game. They will be missing Brian Urlacher who is out for the season.  Hunter Hillenmeyer will fill in. The Bears will try to rally around their missing leader and play inspired, they will have to.

Well that was a hot mess. I’m just glad to have that one behind me now. I’m writing this article as fast as possible just to get the taste out of my mouth.

A positively putrid performance was put on by the Chicago Bears offense in what ended up being a defensive battle. Like it goes in the NFL, the quarterback is going to get most of the blame. Jay Cutler threw four interceptions in Chicago’s 21-15 loss to the rival Green Bay Packers Sunday night.

If you were watching last night’s Bears 26-23 preseason victory over the Browns trying to catch a glimpse of your favorite Bears, I hope you didn’t blink.

After a Zack Bowman interception on the first play from scrimmage, Jay Cutler took the field and handed off to back-up running back Kevin Jones six times, leading to a Robbie Gould field goal. Matt Forte didn't even play. After those first seven plays, it was scrub time.

Since the Chicago Cubs and White Sox are all but out of contention in baseball, this Chicago fan can cheer for the Bears going into hostile territory and defeating the Denver Broncos.

It's not easy to win a game in Denver.  But after seeing Jay Cutler go 15 for 21, throwing the ball with authority and leading the Bears offense and watching Kyle Orton trying to match up, the Bears may have gotten the steal of the year.

After last week’s impressive performance, the Chicago Bears are looking to improve on the little things and settle some key position battles. This week, they visit the mile-high city for one of the most hotly anticipated preseason match-ups in recent memory. As much as Jay Cutler and Josh McDaniels say this game doesn’t matter, you know they’re itching to embarrass the other guy just a little bit. I personally can’t wait to see our defense pick off Kyle Orton, but that’s just me.

Saw Jay Cutler look very good against the Giants on Saturday nite. He makes the Chicago Bears look like a threat this year!

It's only Bear luck that he gets hurt and is out for the season.  I'll say it now.  I hope he stays healthy because without him, there is no offense.  On the field, he looks commanding. His throws are accurate.  He can go long, short, and in the middle.  In short, the Bears have not had a QB like him in years. Before man landed on the moon.  He's better than McMahon.  Can throw quicker with less effort than Erik Kramer.  He has a great arm.  "We must be in heaven man."

After a sub-par performance in his first preseason game as a Bear, Jay Cutler had to listen to a week of Chicago fans moan and groan about the offense’s slow progress. That certainly won’t be the case this week.

Well, that could have gone better. Not that you should be too concerned with the outcome, but the Chicago Bears lost in their first preseason outing last night to the Buffalo Bills in a score of 27 – 20. It was an inconsistent performance at best from the Bears, who were without key pieces on both sides of the ball.

The Chicago Bears have had a lot going on this off season. More changes came this week. Reports from msnbc.com have confirmed that the Bears main man on special teams will no longer be out on the field returning. Devin Hester will no longer be on the receiving end of kick and punt returns. The 26 year old speedy wide out is now focuses all his attention to becoming a better all around receiver. Hester had 11 special teams touchdowns in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. With such success, more teams started to avoid kicking to Hester which lowered his stats last season. Hester did not return kicks the final four games of the 2008 season, with him emerging as a reliable wide receiver.

The Chicago Bears will be a schizo team this year. At times they might look great, at other times, like a team going no-where.  And, eventually, the team might finish 9 and 7 where they were last year.  Here's the deal, the Bears got a great QB, but there are about two guys who can catch the ball: Devin Hester, who used to return kick-offs and punts, and Greg Olsen, their tight end.   That essentially is their pass offense. They will move the chains, and at times it may be painful to watch.  And, they will score touchdowns, somebody will miss their assignment and leave a Bear wide open, or two defenders may collide and leave a Bear wide open, or someone will slip on the turf and leave Hester all alone. That will happen.  But this isn't the Chargers in their hey day.  Or T.O running routes. Or even Plax Burress.  Heck, he may be in jail.

Well, the Brett Favre saga appears to be over… for now.

The routinely flip-flopping quarterback informed ESPN’s Ed Werder of his decision to stay retired  after telling Brad Childress of the Minnesota Vikings.  Favre explained that he was unsure of his body’s ability to withstand another grueling NFL season and the training camp and preseason schedule that accompany it.

I can’t remember a busier or more significant Chicago Bears offseason. After the miraculous acquisition of Jay Cutler (which I still can’t believe happened), and then the signing of Orlando Pace, Jerry Angelo could have sat out the rest of free agency and skipped the draft and Bears fans would have been content. Not one to rest on his new QB’s laurels, Angelo refuses to let up.

Plaxico Burress has avoided a decision in the justice system, for now, but will a decision on his playing future soon be reached? Burress and his agent Drew Rosenhaus have stated that he is in good shape and ready to play in the NFL this coming season after recovering from his self inflicted gun shot wound last fall. With jail time on the back burner for now, Burress seems free to rejoin an NFL team and resume his career, but does anyone want to sign him? More importantly, should anyone sign him?

Plaxico Burress' case was postponed until the fall.  It will be heard 3 weeks into the football season.  Since Burress only caused injury to himself, and shot himself by accident. He will be judged on whether he was carrying a licensed gun, which apparently, he wasn't.  OK, maybe he's not the smartest bloke but he can catch passes big-time.

Hey readers! How's it going?

This year the ,Chicago Bears, had a decent draft.  Dont expect much from this draft class.  The Bears did recently make a great move in trading for, Jay Cutler.  To me Cutler will do decent at best.  The reason I am saying this is because when he was in Denver he had some fairly decent recievers to throw to...with the bears he doesnt have many options.  If the bears can land a good reciever they will be in the running for some hardware.  This is what I have been thinking...the bears could trade Urlacher, because lets face it he is getting a little old and the Lovie likes to play that cover 2 defense which requires the linebackers to drop back and cover, urlacher has lost speed and the chronic back problems he has been having isnt helping.  A lot of GM's would love to have Urlacher on their team...a couple possibilities could be trading, Urlacher, for a couple picks in next years (2010) draft or even trading him to the seahawks for, Lofa Tatupu, he is a young ruthless linebacker who fits the bears cover 2 defense perfectly.  I can see the seahawks possible accepting this due to last seasons record and i am guessing Lofa wants out of a 4-12 team.  This season will either go farely well or be a huge bust.  The bears schedule is looking a lot tougher than last year so we will have to wait and see what Lovie will do.  This year is going to be a fun one!

So there is barely any news on the Chicago front.
